Late 20th Century Middle-East Issues


This course will be a continuation of the Mid-East Conflicts course presented in the fall of 2018, but would cover the period from about 1975 to 2001. Major events during this period include: the Iranian Revolution of 1979, the soviet invasion of Afghanistan in 1979 – 1980, the first Palestinian Intifada, the Gulf War of 1990 with Iraq over Kuwait, the Oslo peace process, and the September 11, 2001 attacks on New York and Washington, D. C. This course will consist of five two-hour class session. Each session will include two short DVD videos presented by a qualified historian of the period, followed by class discussion after each DVD video presentation. $25 for Creative Retirement members.
