Spring Kick-off Luncheon: Oh, to Be a Millennial . . . or Not!

Join us for the 2019 Spring Creative Retirement session!  We will be joined by a panel of leading Iowa educators, students, and business leaders to examine and discuss the social, cultural, political issues facing this generation of young people - The Millennials. The rapid changes in societal norms and mores, the increasingly complex interpersonal relationships, the growing discussions of sexual and gender issues, changes in traditional power structures, and the huge impact caused by increasing use of social media as our primary public communication medium, are causing a sea of change in young people's role in society. The affect of the 2018 fall election with its emphasis on public civility, abuse of power by some of our most important institutions, and how we the older generation are having to deal with their impact on our our younger generation. Each generation deals with its special issues, whether it is WWII, the Cold War, or the Me Generation, etc. but the convergence of so many life-changing issues facing all of us today makes this both an exciting and frightening time.
