The Cuban Missile Crisis

« back to classes page
Most people our age know about the Cuban Missile Crises, which occurred in October 1962.  There is a pretty good movie, Thirteen Day, (2000) about how Washington and the Kennedy administration handled the situation from a policy and global geo-political standpoint.  What has been missing, however, is commentary from those who actually were involved “on the ground” so to speak, the Army, Navy, Marine and Air Force members, and what they did, had to do, and were being asked to do.   Based on personal experiences, we will share the stories of those who were in the military at that time, and what they recall.  With access to the Iowa Veterans Home, we will be asking veterans to share their stories with us.  We think this will make that last week in October, 1962 much more real. $14 for Creative Retirement members.
